Created by Laura Gibson and Charlie Bennett, Netflix’s ‘Too Hot to Handle‘ puts its participants to the test through a unique social experiment. Cast members of this reality show are given the opportunity to find a genuine romantic connection amongst one another. However, they cannot engage in any form of sexual activity in order to focus on the emotional aspect alone.
Since this show’s inception in 2020, it has provided viewers with some very entertaining couples. The fourth season of the dating series thus continued the trend and hosted many captivating relationships, including that of James Pendergrass and Brittan Byrd. Naturally, fans are eager to know if their relationship has survived the test of time, and we are here to explore the same!
James Pendergrass and Brittan Byrd’s Too Hot to Handle Journey
Brittan Byrd appeared in the fourth iteration of ‘Too Hot to Handle’ at the age of 22. The professional model from Hawaii was actually looking forward to having some fun, especially as she believed she was on a fake show called ‘Wild Love.’ During her introductory segment, she was quite empathetic about how society has always viewed women with an active sexual life before adding that times have changed, and such women should be considered icons. She also included herself in this category.
When James Pendergrass, a fellow Hawaii native, entered the show, Brittan immediately made it clear she was very interested in him. They honestly seemed like a good match from the get-go since even he spoke of his bedroom activities as soon as he came across our screens. James said he doesn’t want to compliment himself, but still proclaimed he’s the best person when it comes to sex. Given that even he was under the impression they were participating in ‘Wild Love,’ the reality certainly put a damper on both their plans. However, the temptation of $200,000 was certainly worth it for them to give the experiment a try.
However, out of James and Brittan, the former definitely seemed more adamant about keeping to the rules and not jeopardizing the prize money. That is not to say he did not have his fair share of charged moments with her at first. In fact, on more than one occasion, the personal trainer rued the restrictions in place. For the most part, though, the couple stuck to the rules even when Brittan seemed frustrated by it all. After all, James was not just abstaining himself but was also working around the clock to police the activities of others.
Tired of James making decisions for her and his lack of physical initiative, Brittan decided to focus on Ethan Smith, the new male participant who entered the show midway through her stay in the retreat. Given the latter’s willingness to provide the Hawaii woman affection and respect, she left her former partner’s bed and joined Ethan in his. This devastated James as he did not seem to understand the development and was crushed by Brittan’s actions.
However, following a men-only workshop about the vagin* and the respect it deserves, James seemed to realize that he had not been respecting Brittan’s freedom. He openly admitted that he wanted to make things better with her, making Ethan nervous. In order to salvage his connection with the professional model, the new English contestant tried to deepen his bond with her. His efforts did not come to fruition, as James seemed to know what Brittan wanted.
In his conversation with Brittan, James admitted that he had not been respecting her freedom and was used to treating women with little consideration. He claimed to have seen the error of his ways and asked to be given another chance, which his fellow Hawaii native agreed to. From that point onward, the couple had a steady relationship and had their first kiss during their date in the penultimate episode when their watches turned green. Though they were not among the top two couples, Brittan and James were happy about Jawahir Khalifa and Nick Kici’s victory.
Are James Pendergrass and Brittan Byrd Still Together?
We do believe James Pendergrass and Brittan Byrd are indeed still together. There has been no official announcement regarding the same as of writing, but the two do follow each other on social media and have been nothing but complimentary on each other’s Instagram posts. In fact, they both seem quite happy about their time on the show and don’t ever hesitate to make it known. On a personal level, the two reality stars are prospering in their respective careers and have apparently learned much through the experience. Therefore, we wish them the very best in their lives and hope they have a wonderful future ahead, hopefully together.
