Where can I certify PE minutes for LAUSD? ›

Monthly online certification of elementary physical education instructional minutes is open to all elementary teachers via the Teacher Portal. Each elementary school site principal has direct access to a teacher's certification submission via the Principal's Portal.

Minimum Requirements:

Hold a valid California Credential in physical education K-8 or K-12 (or the equivalent) • Ability to travel to sites throughout the District • Valid CPR and First Aid certification • Appropriate authorization to teach English Learners (BCLAD, CLAD or equivalent).

Education Code Section 51210 requires 200 minutes of physical edu- cation every ten school days for students in grades one through six. Education Code Section 51222 provides for 400 minutes of physical education every ten school days for students in grades seven through twelve.

The law requires a minimum of two years of PE for a high school diploma. But this can increase to four years for those students in high school who do not pass 5 of the 6 items of the California Physical Fitness Test (FITNESSGRAM®) in the 9th grade.
